Helping Our Furry Friends

I stopped in PetsMart last weekend and was sorely tempted by a cute little...beaget? bassle?... part beagle, part basset hound puppy. I didn't take him home, but did pick up some info on the great local organization that works to get unwanted pets adopted, Volunteers for Animal Welfare.

The volunteer I spoke with said that the Oklahoma City animal shelter kills 16,000 dogs and cats a year, at least half of which are adoptable. That means that every day on average well over 20 adoptable pets are killed by our shelter. And that's only one of our metro area shelters. VAW not only works to get these animals adopted, they work very hard on spay/neuter projects to bring the number of unwanted animals down. You can be a part of it! Here's how you can help!
