Oklahoma Kitsch

Red Dirt and Lip Schtick have weighed in (with comments from Chase and Dustbury) on their favorite Oklahoma Kitsch, and I thought I would throw a few more into the mix. Already mentioned was the Gold Dome, but how can you leave out The Egg Church (aka The Boob Church, aka First Christian Church of Oklahoma City)?

And what about the U-Haul truck atop the tallest building in Bricktown?

Can't leave out the BC Clark jingle.

And my least favorite but most emblematic of past woes: the old license plates with their slogan "OKLAHOMA IS OK".

I actually had the "Big Boob Church" on my list but forgot to put it in my piece! Thank you, OKPartisan, for showing me the error of my ways.

Yes, I admit, I always check to make sure the U-Haul truck is still there whenever I drive by...

...and finally, I am a sucker for the BC Clark jingle. It's just not Christmas (er, the holidays) without it.

I love old signage. Some of my favorites are RoundUp Cleaners on 30th and Penn, Charcoal Oven on NW Expressway near May Ave., and Patio Grill/HiLo Club near 50th and Classen.

Hi, everyone. Here is pic of the boob church taken from the Route 4 bus in Oklahoma City. Check out the other bus ride photographs as well. (The Round-Up cleaners sign is cool, too.)
